Commercial Gas Service Engineer

Job title - Service Engineer

Reporting to Service Delivery Manager   

Location - Customer sites within a regional area, and wider support to cover national when required

The Company

Our clients is the UK’s largest and leading industrial boiler and burner service and maintenance provider, predominantly operating within the industrial sector and continually growing organically and through acquisition.

Scope and remit

Responsible for providing on-site service, maintenance, and support on a vast range of combustion equipment and plant.

Personal duties

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance of industrial combustion, heating, and process equipment on widely varied customer sites
  • Responding to customer callouts by telephone or site including participation in the out of hour’s rota system
  • Evaluating and resolving technical problems
  • Fault finding, diagnosis and repair.
  • Installing, commissioning, and servicing of combustion and process plant
  • Testing and monitoring the performance of equipment and plant.
  • Providing customers with regular reports and feedback on their service requests, including the completion of relevant digital forms
  • After sales; providing customers with upgrade and energy saving options.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with customers
  • Offering feedback on future product development, features, and functions
  • Ensuring compliance with the companies’ health and safety, quality, and environmental procedures
  • Participation in paid overtime and weekend work
  • Flexibility to support business needs nationally when required.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full driving licence
  • Gas qualifications; COCN1, ICPN1, CIGA1 and CORT1

Desirable

  • Engineering degree or similar (HNC etc)
  • Gas qualifications; CDGA1, TPCP1 and TPCP1A
  • IOSH Working Safely and/or Safety passport including confined spaces.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • A strong proven engineering background within the combustion industry
  • Field based service engineer experience
  • Previous experience of working to health and safety requirements
  • Knowledge of direct gas fired indirect convection combustion processes.

Desirable

  • Previous experience with manufacturer products including Nu-way, Riello, Spooner, Imaforni, Double D, Lincat, Haas, Eclipse etc
  • Experience in a customer facing role.
  • Computer literate

  • Good level of communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Analytical and logical problem solving skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised and function as part of a team
  • Capable of working accurately at speed with a wide ranging remit
  • Willing and keen to undertake relevant training to develop skills in relation to the post
  • Flexible to travel and participate in some overtime/weekend work including overnight stays
